He did, however, define person, man, camera, TV

That’s not a prediction. Much like DeSantis and Disney, that’s a fundraising ploy.

Count me among those who paid off federal student loan debt and would be pissed if people with outstanding debt got to skate. Where's my fucking rebate?

At this point, he’s trying to get cited so he can claim victimhood. Victimhood makes him famous. Fame is all that matters to Trumpists.

Oh great. They’re going to forgive $10,000 of my wife’s six-figure law school debt.

We’ll be SWIMMING in privilege while eating our avocado toast!

*I paid off my college loan in one year after college. I see it from both ends. But people screaming about this better have been screaming about the bank and auto industry bailouts, too.

**My belief is partial forgiveness ($5,000 or so) should be paired with eliminating interest on the debt rather than large-scale forgiveness.

What was your position on the auto bailouts?

Were you booing Obama when he was touting how many jobs he saved?

I’m not trying play gotcha with people, just interested in making them realize it’s okay if other people have good things happen even if it didn’t happen to them personally if the overall effect is good for our society.

I paid off my student loans. I lived in poverty the first year I was doing it. I paid them off on time, and I never minded writing the check because I knew what it had gotten me. That said, I recognized that student loans are much more onerous now. They're bigger, they're more predatory and the interest rates are not as good as what I had 40 years ago. I would not begrudge anybody if all student loans were forgiven.

I haaaaate being in debt. I’ve never owed a dollar to anyone for anything other than college. I buy cars cash. I made $15k atmy first newspaper job and owed $13,000 coming out of school. I somehow lived on $7,000 the first year, invested the rest in a bull market and had it paid off in a year. I consider it my greatest pre-child accomplishment.

(It helps when your apartment sits above the laundrymat so you don’t have to pay for heat and eat free soup every day my dad got while working at Campbell’s.)

Cover game. Write story. Eat soup. Watch Andy Griffith reruns with rabbit ears TV. Go to bed. Repeat 355 more times.

Fair points. Probably just woe-is-me shit on my part.

No it isn’t. I hope I didn’t come off as attacking. I’m just giving the other side here. There are real reasons forgiveness is a total middle finger to a person like you. I’d like to come up with a plan that doesn’t let people skate but also allows them to retire someday.
