The first rule of Evangelical Fight Club is that there is no polity to answer to outside of the local church. I respect Moore and French but they have about as much influence at First Baptist Fuddville as the Kardashian sisters.

The second rule of Evangelical Fight Club (and you can throw much of the mainline back in at this point) is that spectacle way outdraws actual Bible study. Railing about what people do with their sex parts is a spectacle. Constantly stoking fears of an outside “other” determined to attack Our Way of Life is a spectacle. Convincing people they are the protagonists in Revelation-as-current-events is a spectacle. And politics? That’s become a bigger spectacle than NASCAR, SEC football and Dollywood combined.

You talking about e-free churches?

Because there are lots of evangelical Christians who attend denominations that absolutely answer to polities outside of their local church.

I’m not trying to be glib here. I feel like I know quite a bit about the evangelical church in America. I’m not sure how e free churches are part of a metaphorical fight club
