    The path forward would be to either make student debt tax deductible for the borrower - or their employer. And lets be honest, the problem isn't the "debt," its the wages being offered college grads which make it difficult to pay off the loans. Not to mention the abdication of many states to keep up with making their public universities affordable to their residents.

    But I have no problem with public school teachers, firefighters and police officers having their student loan debts cleared. There should also be a "matching" plan for state workers as well.

    I think the first step is just forgiving the interest on the debt.

    Exactly. That or allowing the interest to be tax deductible like a mortgage loan, except a direct deduction from income rather than having to file itemized.
