    First, that wasn’t the context of your original post, but The Iraq War led to the rise of ISIS, which is no small thing even going forward.

    Second, as you know, Alito isn’t alone in any impending Roe vote.

    Third, Bush wasn’t likely to appoint someone other than an Alito type, a fact known when he was twice elected.

    Agree with Alma here. It's not like Bush's final two was Alito or Earl Warren Jr. I think both political parties have done way, way more "quiet" screening of Supreme Court justices since the days of the Burger court.

    You got to remember W submitted Harriet Miers first, who was a joke nominee how she was thoroughly unqualified.

    Then W pulled her and submitted Alito, who checked all the judicial qualification boxes but was too radical to get through the first time.

    Compared to Miers, how could you vote down Alito?
