Things just got very interesting. At least one Republican has the stones to put their political career on the line in defense of the Constitution. Predictably enough, it wasn't one of the men.

Loved Lindsey Graham going back and changing his vote to yes to witnesses after the numbers became apparent.

They're going to need to get three or four witnesses on record or McCarthy will slither out of telling the truth somehow. They're saying that he told this story several times to groups of R's. We'll see if anyone else has the guts to stand up.

    "breaks definitively from Trump" ?!?!?

They read a different Politico story than I did, because all I saw was a bunch of hemming and hawing and hand-wringing.

Trump is A Bad Man, and so obviously deserves all this, but of course the call happened 37 days ago, so the Friday night revelation of the dialogue in the call after the Trump defense team presented its case, seems either:

    A. A response to the defense's presentation having apparently resonated on some level.

    OR

    B. A prepared tactic designed to take GOP senators through a bombshell cycle before taking the vote.

What it is not is some "oh yeah, maybe this important to the case..." memory jolt.

Again. Bad Man. Deserves it. Everyone's obviously OK with it because he's a Bad Man. Feels tactical. Feels like a discussion that could have been had Monday.

I'm so tired of Donald Trump. So tired. Tired of who he is, what he did, and what he inspires in others to take him down. I pray he is done forever with politics.

How are witnesses a surprise move?

If the other side is lying and wants a quick trial, calling witnesses is as obvious as throwing on third-and-11.

It creates sound bytes. It also sets themselves up to purger themselves.

van der Veen is a terrible actor. He's digging very deep to try to manufacture some outrage.

It's what you become after eating a bunch of junk food -- or filling your ears full of junk lawyering, like what Michael van der Veen has provided this morning.

Is this going to delay a covid relief vote or can they vote on a relief bill concurrently?

    Dems are so fucking stupid.
