I think that the source is somebody who spends a lot of time at Mar-Lago, likes the shine of being by Trump, but was appalled and genuinely concerned when he saw the information that Trump has, or had. I think it is highly classified information that puts some aspect of our nuclear capability at risk. I think that person decided country before Trump.

That's possible. I tend to think that it was one of the designated guardians of presidential documents who saw that if Trump went down for them in any serious way (say that they knew that there were still very seriously classified files in Trump's possession and were concerned that their knowing about it and not reporting it would make them part of a conspiracy legally) that they'd be going to jail too.

It's a little late for an outbreak of patriotic behavior to be credible.
