    Unless the intent was to just get the classified information out of Mar A Lago.

    When there's spillage of classified documents - electronically or in paper form - the first thing you do is prevent further spillage (unplug the computer; secure the documents).

    The Assign Blame portions of the process come after that.

    I don't think so. Sometimes things are just as they seem.

    The reason it is always so difficult to go after Donald Trump is that there is never a neat prosecution. He shields his shitty behavior behind the stooges who get caught in his web, and they leave behind the fingerprints of tangible crimes. It's was why so many people around him have ended up as felons.Crimes like fraud and obstruction of justice -- where they always end up with, with Trump -- are notoriously difficult to win. You have to argue his intent and state of mind rather than just his actions. This is different because it's a more straightforward crime. The kind that is easier to win. Which is why he's in real legal jeopardy. My bet is that the DOJ itself could have given a shit about the actual documents. We all do the boogity, boogity national security hysteria as a national sport, but that is not a DOJ thing usually. They are in the business of collecting scalps. My guess is that they were licking their chops because of this, because it's such a tangible crime. The question they are dealing with now is, will his bullshit be able to create any ambiguity? And that will be what maybe makes it so they don't indict. But this is different, in that it's not a slippery phone call with a foreign leader where he can argue his words didn't mean what they sounded like. They'll prosecute if they can accuse him of violating the espionage act and be able to lay it out in as straightforward a way as the actions of bank robber or a drug trafficker.

    Would we know any of this still today had Trump himself not let the world know the FBI was searching MAL? And when the DOJ shares a photo like the one today, it and everything else they've shared to this point in response to motions filed because of Trump's blabbering and posturing. Do the media outlets move to have the affidavit public if Trump doesn't tell everyone the FBI is searching his residence with a search warrant?

    I promise: The intelligence community gives a shit about the actual documents.

    People jump through hoops to protect CUI (controlled unclassified information - basically "stuff which is not getting disclosed to foreign governments"). They for sure care about TS/SCI documents.

    At issue is Trump's compliance with a grand jury subpoena, issued in May, demanding that he turn over classified documents from Mar-a-Lago. Prosecutors said Tuesday that some documents were likely removed from a storage room before Trump's lawyers examined the area, while they were trying to comply with the subpoena. The timeline is essential, because Trump's lawyers later told investigators that they searched the storage area and that all classified documents were accounted for.
    "The government also developed evidence that government records were likely concealed and removed from the Storage Room and that efforts were likely taken to obstruct the government's investigation," prosecutors wrote. "This included evidence indicating that boxes formerly in the Storage Room were not returned prior to counsel's review."

    Given what documents they found, and where they found them - removed from the rest and hastily moved to the "45 Office" - imagine what is in those specific documents. So, why did you have to hold onto those specific documents, Donald?
