I don't mind the speech - I think I would have done it indoors and without the Marines in the background. Describe the differences the Founding Fathers had when drafting the Constitution, explain that they fully understood and expected there to be differences of opinion in our country, but that a respect for the Constitution, the rule of law and our form of government was essential for the American experiment to suceed. The true American exceptionalism lies in our basic belief and trust and support of the Constitution - and unlike other countries, who have seen "strongmen" seize control, disrupting democracy and taking the power that belongs to the people, for themselves - Democrats, Republcans and early Whigs and Federalists, have never actively tried to subvert the Constitution, sometimes by violent means. .
