    One more note on ancestry and presidents: Great-grandmother (always called Nana, never her given name) was born in the 1890s (official records were lost in the '06 SF earthquake and fire), so her first president would have been Harrison, Cleveland the second time around or McKinley. But somewhat keeping with this threadjack, my mother says she always made sure her daughters and granddaughters were registered and voting. Why? Because she couldn't vote herself until the 19th Amendment was passed in 1920!

    The 421 bypass got done just in time for those sumbitches in NASCAR to pull the plug on North Wilkesboro. That was easily the worst race-day traffic jam I've ever witnessed.
