I was having a conversation with my mom last week and she was feeling bad about getting old - she said something to the effect of feeling "disconnected to the world" - I'm guessing a lot of people are feeling that - COVID was a big part of that and I do think we are in a big transition time as baby boomers loosen - or just lose - their grip on so much of the power they've had for decades, and younger generations are suddenly having to take over. People sense this, leading to further uncertainty-fueled actions, whether its violence, angry rhetoric, rude behavoir, bad driving. We need to relearn how to coexist as a society even as some people are hyping the uncertainty and fear for their own ends.
