True. But it's a good place to start and I think voting on a national level has shown the majority of the electorate that was more liberal at 18 in 1967 remains more liberal today. Some of the things that are generally mainstream now - same-sex marriage, gay politicians, legal pot, interracial marriage as routine, women in high-ranking political positions, etc. - were inconceivable in 1967.

Of course some are going to become more conservative. But on the whole, a liberal at 18 is still at least a moderate, if not a liberal, today. IMHO, of course.

    Two things...

    1. All the hand-wringing about John Fetterman's cognitive ability following a stroke, yet that nightmare of a word salad from a likely presidential candidate won't get a second look.

    2. Did Trump just boast of using the FBI to alter an election? Seems a tad illegal.

Down to 8,000 now after a Reno dump. With 56,000 out in Clark. I’d rather be in the lead, but it’s not over.

Point well-taken and I agree, but there’s also no more strident conservative than a disgruntled, disenchanted liberal.

No but my generation is the generation of Columbine. Gen Z had Sandy Hook and Marjory Douglas. Gen Alpha has Uvalde.

Millennials and Gen Z saw gay marriage become legal and more acceptance of the LGBTQ community. It’s Gen X and Boomers fighting to ban books with those themes.

Millennials are the generation that can’t afford home ownership and crushing student debt. We left college right before or during the Great Recession.

We will not be the same people we were in our 20s, but our experience and values are very much a part of us. Those things are not leaving easily. We may worry about taxes and retirements and get less tolerant of what is hip, but we are who we are. We’re social media activists and fair play wishers. That isn’t going away easy.

We’re not a monolith but we’re more progressive than the generations before us and parties need to adapt to that. Kicking and screaming or not.

In the 1970s, the liberals were the most dangerous. A generation later, Trumpist heroes like McVeigh, the Unabomber and most mass shooters started posing the gravest danger to the largest groups of people. And they seem to revel in it. Roger Stone, Steve Bannon and their ilk are not going to stop here.

    Interesting.

I remember the Viet Nam War, when our own government killed tens of thousands of Boomers in a jungle half a world away. And Kent State, when our own government fired guns on Boomers walking to classes right here in Middle America. And some deranged lunatic in the tower at Austin. And nuclear fallout drills in school where we were taught to hide, even though we'd all be dead.

And stagflation for a decade. Crazy Presidents who tried to steal elections. Two oil crises. Been there, done that.

But we also had Earth Day. And peace rallies. And non-violent protests. And all thought the world would be better if not for our evil government, made of our parents and grandparents who happened to live through the Great Depression and World War II and Korea.

We screwed up, too. We didn't change everything. But there's a lot of things you don't realize are so much better than they were in 1960 or 1970, particularly for minorities and women.

    Baby steps.

Every generation thinks the one above it is evil and did nothing to make it better. God willing, you'll be blamed for something 40 years from now.

You’re right. We all think we’re better than the generation before (unless you’re Gen X and took pride in not being better). We’re not perfect. We have a more divided country than ever. I more wanted to point out what was shaping us and how we’re not simply going to be old and angry. We’re going to be our own version of old and angry.
