It depends on what kind of deal is struck. The Speaker has a lot of power. Committee assignments, what bills go to the floor for a vote, time to debate a bill and others. If Republicans jump ship, there’s a whole host of things that can be promised and they would become very powerful as a result to keep things on track for longer than 5 minutes.

Depending on their districts, it’s a thing that will lose people elections but for two years (or as long as they can keep no confidence votes at bay) they would have a lot of power.

 

In other words, lots of pork going out the door. Ain’t much different from normal business in D.C.

 

Which weirdly would be a welcome change from what we’ve been getting under divided government
