    It's a good fit. The Senate is full of wonks, and Porter is that. (I don't mean it in a bad way, either.)

    I worked for a 92-year old publisher in the late 1990’s who had a desk in the newsroom. He’d read the paper, sometimes write an editorial that his wife would have to completely re-write in order to not offend every person in the town, often fall asleep at his desk and wake up in time to go to the bar at noon to drink away the afternoon.

    I didn’t know whether to be disgusted or in awe.
