Senators eye Social Security reforms as some in House GOP consider cuts

Fun Fact: "Reforms" is a weasel word euphemism for "Cuts."

By strange coincidence, there is something that would make sure that Americans have a secure retirement system. It's called Social Security.

And if you start fuckin with it, remember, as always, there are 400 million guns loose in America just waiting to be put to use. And yes, some Social Security recipients are 93 year old bedridden grannies, but many aren't.

More importantly, the 50-somethings who've paid into it since the '80s and are starting to see a flicker of light at the end of the tunnel.

Pence and Biden both did it by the numbers, the sort of response that will keep them out of legal trouble.

Trump ignored the Nat'l Archives, lied, delayed, did a sorta halfass document return, did not hold the documents securely, and in general did what the law calls "Willing retention" of secret documents. No matter how they paint it, the cases are very different.

Beau made a point this morning that I think was well taken. From now on, at every presidential transition, there need to be counterintelligence agents going through every box that gets packed to be certain that no secret documents are being retained. This thing is way out of hand, and the IS needs to stomp that nonsense flat. You're going to have every foreign intelligence service thinking about how to gain access to the homes and offices of all retired presidents and vice-presidents if they don't clamp down on this.

Who the fuck cares if a Republican senator wants Social Security cuts? They aren't running anything.
