I’m not asking for the government to censor her. I’m asking why, if I were Shari Redstone, owner of the CBS television network, would I possibly want this woman on what is supposed to be my most prestigious program calling people pedophiles without a micron of proof? I would not owe it to James Madison or Abraham Lincoln or Plato or Jeannette Rankin or Lucille Ball or anybody alive or dead to allow that kind of vile bullshit under my corporate umbrella.

The U.S. is a free democratic, republic, not a dictatorship that she rules by force. She doesn't sit at the head of our government. Our government has separaton of powers. She has no ability to round up millions of people and commit mass genocide.

But other than a million things like those. ... great parallel. You just compared her role in a free country / constitutional democracy to Adolph Hitler's dictatorship and Nazi Germany.

There have been plenty of people with hateful ideas and rhetoric. ... before, during and after Hitler's time. His actions were what distinguished him and made him Adolph Hitler. He managed to take over a government, keep it by force, roll tanks through Europe and carry out mass murder.

None of that is happening in the United States. We're a free country, governed by a Constitution and rule of law. If she ever finds a way to try to commit mass genocide, we actually have the system and laws to stop her. ... Absent her actions breaking the law, she has just as much right to say stupid things as you do. And if you think she's wrong or dangerous. ... then counter her with facts and reason and better ideas.

    "Adolph Hitler" isn't that.

The "calling people pedophiles without a micron of proof" was the point of it, though. She's a highly-visible member of Congress who has established a national following in only 2 terms. She has power and is now sitting on some top committees. 60 Minutes wasn't endorsing her calling people pedophiles. The gist of it was, "Wow! You really said that?" They were showing her for who she is. I just don't get why people don't think she's newsworthy or why in your case you think it does damage to 60 Minutes any more than a story about Bernie Madoff would have been damaging to the show itself. That is what they do. ... some of the stories they do are profiles, even of controversial figures.

I think you can make a case to put her on '60 Minutes.'

Villains are a big part of journalism. The Ayatollah. Farrakhan. Arafat. McVeigh. All appeared on '60 Minutes.'

Illuminating and illustrating bad guys back into antiquity are part of journalism's responsibility to the public.

MTG's an openly, vocally fascist, racist United States congresswoman.

That said, I think the problem here was how '60 Minutes' presented her. It was a clickbait celebrity booking rather than a real exploration of the dangerous nonsense she promulgates.

Again, check out Jeff Sharlet's thread.

Hitler was quite a gentleman, according to the New York Times. Also, “Adolph?” Are you British?

Yes, by all means, let’s give her a platform. Thanks, 60 minutes.

Speaking of Ronnie 3 Fingers, maybe he should worry less about the culture wars and focus, you know, on governing.

If only Time magazine had pretended that Hitler didn't exist in 1938.
