In a way, she’s a fascinating case study. She was a complete afterthought at FNC, working when no one was watching. Except because Trump has no friends and no family life, he spent his weekend nights watching cable news, hoping to hear good things about himself. He starts praising her, which then gives her greater buzz. So she knows what works and goes more and more in on the pro-Trump propaganda. Which further raises her profile and now the only way she can make news is to say increasingly crazy shit.

These contenders eventually MUST attack trump in order to beat him, but they're too afraid. They need his voters, probably about half of which will never vote for anyone but trump. But the extreme, unpopular positions of the trumplican party won't attract enough independent voters to make up the trump gap.
