    Wait... WHAT?

    People are now TRYING to be Southern?

    Good grief, this board could play drinking games if they knew how many times I was asked where I was from while residing in the South (and by that, I mean, "you're not from here, are ya' boy ... so where are you REALLY from?"). Now people are trying to be Southern? Regardless of gender, this is just ... strange.

    The state of Ohio has become a Southern-aspiring state. Its rural residents have taken on Southern accents and the identity of the South.

    It’s wild.

    My lineage is from East Tennessee, but I have the pinched nasal of a Great Laker, somewhere between a person from Cleveland and Detroit. Not quite Chicago pinched like my wife, but noticeable. I have high school classmates who sound like they’re trying to be from Georgia or something.
