The fascinating part of Blazing Saddles is that the wrong people laughed at the saying of the "n-word," just like how Archie Bunker was supposed to make a mockery of the bigots and instead he became a hero to many blue-collar doofuses.

 

Federal judges have very little leeway in sentencing and almost no room to get creative with alternatives. If he is convicted on a charge that requires active time, he does a minimum sentence at a low security "Club Fed" facility, most likely in Florida, such as FCI Coleman. If he gets convicted of a charge that does not require active time, he's on house arrest and/or probation out of Florida.

God help him if he ends up in a state prison in New York or Georgia. FWIW, I think the NY case is very weak and the foot dragging in the Georgia case makes me worry there's either some exculpatory evidence the public doesn't know about or the office just isn't capable of handling it.

 

Growing up in a lily-white Indiana small-town, I distinctly remember the joy some of my high school football teammates got at repeating those particular Blazing Saddles lines in the early 90s. "The Sheriff is ..." was practically a rallying cry. Some of em had their horizons expanded by life. Many of them are still racist AF.

 

I like to think that I'm not knee-jerk about this sort of thing. But I do believe this (fill in un-PC word here) needs to be removed from her position before she causes any real damage.
