Related note: The recreational vehicle situation is about to see the same pressures to drop prices. After five year of being able to slap together RVs with screws and duct tape and sell them at premium prices -- as people decided to sell everything and travel during COVID -- higher interest rates have caused sales to plummet. In fact, most of the manufacturers in Indiana don't even have any more 2023 models under production because there's such a glut on dealer lots. I've read where manufacturers are somewhere around 10 percent of last year's output.

On the other hand, the dealers have been reluctant to cut prices because they purchased all these trailers at motorhomes at a relatively high value. They're screwed, because inventory sitting on the lot costs them money but selling them at a loss is worse. A lot of smaller dealers are going to go under before the 2024s arrive.

The resale market, especially for fifth wheels, is crazy because now people are tiring of living in an itty-bitty living space with expensive bills to pay. There's a bunch of older crap out there available for cheap, but as soon as something newer and with a specific floorplan comes up on RV Trader or Facebook Marketplace, the seller has his or her choice of multiple offers.

We'd like to get a fifth wheel for the RV park in Florida this winter, but I'm waiting until October to see how the market shifts.

 

There hasn't been a former POTUS running to challenge an incumbent in more than a century. Normally, when an incumbent is challenged for reelection, their opponent had never held the office before, so there's a lot of speculation about he or she would do as POTUS.

Not with Trump. We don't have speculate about what his presidency would be like. We know it was a disaster. He got impeached twice in 13 months!

There are a couple of guys on Youtube who have really been beating the drum about this. There are a lot of expensive trucks that aren't selling well, dealers are having to cut deals to get them off the lot. The wave of repos has already been noticed. There are some very good deals out there if you are in a position to grab them.

 

The RV industry here rivals oil production for boom-bust capability.
