Somehow, my daughter asked me today what would happen if the election was tied. I tried explaining the electoral college and added "it's insane we don't determine it by popular vote." She's 10 so she checked out of the explanation pretty quickly. Hopefully there's still something to vote for come 2032.

 

Agenda 47 would consist of an end to birthright citizenship, further criminalizing transgender people and the LGBTQI community more broadly, expanding the thought crime and other censorship laws to end the teaching of "critical race theory" and to defeat "Woke" and "Black Lives Matter", attacking academic freedom and replacing it with "patriot education", implementing a national stop and frisk law, pardoning the Jan. 6 terrorists, putting homeless people in camps or some other designated area under threat of arrest, building high tech "freedom cities", ending the professional civil service and replacing it with right-wing political appointees and other such partisan agents, gutting the Department of Justice and other parts of the government that opposed Trump's attacks on democracy and the rule of law, executing drug dealers, starting a trade war with China, and making "peace" with Vladimir Putin by withdrawing support for the Ukrainian people and their freedom struggle. In many ways, Agenda 47 is a continuation of the fascist and other authoritarian policies Trump put in place during his first regime but now made even more extreme and cruel.

 

The funny thing is that one of the main arguments FOR the EC was to avoid "sectionalism"

 

And the truly disturbing thing is that large swaths of this country will enthusiastically sign on to all of this.

 

It's the classic line about how the people who voted for the face-eating party didn't think THEIR faces would get eaten.

It’s sickening.

 

The ones leading the mob/cult know what’s going on. They see the numbers. They see the demographics. They see public opinion.

They can no longer win straight up. So now the total effort is to change to rules. Cheat to win at all costs. And never concede. Everything is always “rigged.”

It’s so much more pleasing to them than to actually craft a message and policies that the majority of the country will support. The Dems have a pretty good message right now but spending issues likely make gettable moderate Rs pretty queasy.

A Republican candidate who’s fiscally conservative and socially moderate (no federal abortion ban) would win the next election in a landslide. That’s where most of the country is currently.

But that candidate will never happen. The trumplican party is all that’s left.

 

Anybody who thought CNN would gravitate away from Trump when it whacked the CEO a few weeks back is going to be mistaken.
They commissioned a poll with 60% Trumpists to ensure they got a particular result. Forget reality. They want to drive a narrative that Biden is in trouble.
