Clips I've seen are the typical Trump word salad. And the media is lapping it up like it was free booze.

    1. The hood on a full-sized Cup car back then is probably bigger than the entire car in 2023.
    2. Look at how high off the ground those cars ran back then. I still believe most of the aero push is due to not letting air flow underneath the chassis.
    3. I'm completely amused by the addition of the "5 mph safety bumpers."

I'd swing a helmet at Donnie Allison to see those run at speed again.

I was attending the NASCAR race in Charlotte about 1987 as a guest of Wrnngler. I had pit access and wandered into a garage-type building. At once, the doors closed and a hush fell over the room as a race official called out names: Allison...Allison...Earnhardt...Marcis...Pearson..Petty...Petty...Yarborough. It was the pre-race drivers meeting. The official took a minute to brief the group, and warn a certain driver about last week's dangerous tactics, and soon it was over. Later, I got to meet Earnhardt who at that time drove for Wrangler. We found him relaxing among the crates and boxes in the darkness of an equipment truck. He was perfectly cordial and we wished him well, though Yarborough took the checkered flag.
