Correct, but it does require electors to vote for at least one candidate for president/vice president from a different state than the elector's own. How that would play out in a close electoral college vote is open for debate, but it makes it strategically risky to have a ticket with two candidates from the same state.

Of course, Trump could easily re-establish residency in New York or New Jersey at one of his other properties if he really wanted a running mate from Florida. That's what Dick Cheney did when Bush chose him - re-established residency in Wyoming after living in Texas for a while.

And that my friends is exactly why they did it. The GQP is so much better at politics in our current era than the Democrats are.

What in your mind could the Democratic Party do to make useless fucksticks like Peter Baker and the NYT political desk actually do their fucking jobs?

It’s not about politics. This level of coverage is intentional, and it’s not because one party is better at something than another. Unless that better thing is being filthy fucking rich. Because that’s what this is about every time: money. How can Democrats monetize doing the right thing?

Was that written by the NYT Pitchbot?

You’re changing the terms of the debate. Haley could in theory have platforms that are (according to you) misogynistic without necessarily being misogynistic in criticizing a Kamala Harris presidency. The MSNBC column makes a blanket assertion that any criticism of Harris is tinged with racism and misogyny.

A serious question: Do you really think the NYT - the NYT - is in the tank for the GOP? That it is comprised of useless political reporters?

Never too late to learn the "comprised/composed of" rule, ya know. :)

    1) I was answering a specific post from doctorquant.

    2) the column in question refers to to the Republican party using 'racism and misogyny' against Harris.

    3) I'd be more sanguine about Nikki Haley's comment about Harris if she specified why exactly she felt this way.

"My concern is we cannot have Kamala Harris as president. We can't chance this. We have to make sure that we have a new generational leader that's going to bring in not only Republicans, but we're going to pull back the independents. We're going to bring back in the suburban women, we're going to bring in Hispanics. We're going to bring in the Asian community. We have to make sure we win this, because the thought of Kamala Harris being president should send a chill up every American spine."

For heaven’s sake. The why is obvious ... Harris is very much the progressive, and Haley is very much not. If Trump died tomorrow ... hey, a man can dream ... and Haley leaped to the front of the GOP field, Harris would be making the same argument, and not because Harris is bigoted toward Americans of Indian descent.
