Joe Biden has done exactly what he was elected to do.

For the last 1064 days he has not been Donald Trump.

He grades A-plus on that with me! I'll leave it to stealth-MAGA @Alma and the Trump '24 PR operation (a.k.a. the New York Times politics desk) to quibble with anything else the Delaware Bumbler might have done.

Have to agree that political circumstances these last few years are different - more urgent seeming - than in years past.

The acceleration of which can in part be attributed to how news and information are gathered and transmitted.

In both cases our coverage needs to evolve.

I agree that I'm still trying to understand why exactly Harris as President should send chills up my spine. What exactly is the Right's complaint, beyond the same Obama "she hates white people" nonsense.

She's Black and has a uterus. It'd be Michelle Obama x 100. But bring it on, if she has to run. Fuck 'em.

My parents were both republicans. They were faithful people. Not religious fanatics but heavily involved with the church. They walked the walk.

Which is why they could never consider trump. The most amoral excuse of a human and totally a non-religious asshole.

Of the many things I’ll never understand is why the evangelicals sold their souls to him. Maybe before, but they got Roe illegitimately reversed. They won.

No excuses this time. They’re just morally bankrupt political pawns.

Mostly but not entirely thanks to Newt Gingrich, being in the minority is worth a bucket of warm spit. For Evangelicals, I think it comes down to the people who will pay you lip service and use you for your voter bloc vs. the people who want nothing to do with you. Even if you're not a MAGA "true believer," not being out of power is more important than having principles.

On the bright side, since we're right on the edge, the precipice, of the world becoming uninhabitable because of climate change, the collapse of democracy doesn't mean so much.

I wonder about the bolded part a lot myself. Why this guy? So, are these evangelicals really not all that religious to begin with, do they harbor some "everybody deserves forgiveness" thing they obviously don't afford the other side but do for TFG, or are they threatened by something else? I just don't get it. I truly can't believe they would've supported this guy so vehemently as recently as the GWB days. Maybe it was just always trending this way and I'm the one who should be surprised.

The Lord has made everything for its purpose,

even the wicked for the day of trouble.

    - Proverbs 16:4

    Question
Does God sometimes use evil to accomplish his plans?

Does God sometimes use evil to accomplish his plans?

Those inclined to do so can make the argument that Trump is an instrument of God.

It’s weird how folks trot out that line of thinking to justify voting for Trump, but never for voting for somebody with a D next to their name. If Trump is can be an instrument of God, why can’t Biden? Or Harris? Or any other person from the Democratic Party?
