It's also, very likely, not going to impact him in the election. Those who would say HA HA SCORE HYPOCRITE BUILD THAT FUCKING WALL KEEP THE SCARY PEOPLE OUT were never going to vote for him in a million years. Everyone else is reasoned and understands there's nuance to a complicated issue.

One benefit of being in DC forever and being almost 80 years old is Biden is patient enough to just let everyone else trip all over themselves. He doesn't need to say or do anything for sane people to realize he's the only alternative. People are remembering what it was like to have a set it and forget it President. Maybe he's great, maybe he's meh but you don't spend every waking hour stressed out about him. It was nice! We had it for 200 years! We can continue to have it again!

This is the thing. It appears that everyone has finally figured out that the basic, core-requirement classes are the same, whether they're taken at a cheaper community college, or at a full-fledged state college or university. It has nothing to do with hacking it anymore, although the community college route is good for kids who may still be more comfortable, maturity- or personality-wise, living at home than they would be if they were more independent and living away from home.

There is still, on some level, a need to be ready for what's ahead in order for kids to really succeed and be happy in their new circumstances.

Which is the best argument, and still a valid one, for parents/kids who decide to go straight away from home and into and college or university -- the fact that they will learn, faster, how to handle such circumstances.

You want to know if someone is from the South? If they pronounce the last name Talliaferro as "Tolliver" or "Tollifer", it's very likely they're dyed in the wool Southerner.

Those are among the best couple of paragraphs accurately describing our problems that I've ever seen/read. It's what needs to get out there -- what people need to hear, realize and understand.

While we're on this, I'm going to link Beau, because he does an excellent job of laying out what happened and the potential implications in a number of directions. Even if you normally skip these, this one is well worth a listen.

BTW, if you're not a dedicated Beau watcher, when he breaks out the Spy vs. Spy patch on his hat, he's going to talk intel. If it's the usual Curious George patch turned upside down, he's joking/talking about something humorous.

Jim Jordan will find out that while his fellow GOPers love him harranging witnesses at various hearings and being the caucuses attack dog, they don't see him as speaker material. Scalise's recent myeloma diagnosis is not good for him on multiple levels - though some might figure he'd be preferable because at some point in the next few years he'd have to step away.

I’m warming up to the idea of Jim Jordan for speaker, because that’s seems to be the fastest way for GOP stars to collapse into a black hole and then never bother the public at large again. Remember when we were all going to be cogs in Paul Ryan’s idea factory?

If the Speaker candidate debate is indeed aired live on Fox, it seems likely the craziest asshole will get the job. Good gravy, it's not a fucking reality TV show. Jordan and Scalise are bomb throwers who won't be able to bring together their side of the House. Though, I'm not sure who can, either, when you have a deciding group of 8-10 who will never agree to a compromise and just want to burn it all down.

And while we're at it, certain folks need to stop it with saying Hakeem Jeffries has a path to get the job. I like him a lot and think he'll make a great Speaker, hopefully in 2025. But there's no chance in hell he's getting it while the trumplcians are in control. Stop it already.

Warming up to the idea of the Dems backing Liz Cheney - maybe they could pick off enough GOP votes (with offers of plum committee chairs) to make it happen.
