Lawyer makes lawyerly argument in attempt to present best defense.

I am utterly stunned when people here make a big issue of people presenting defenses. Trump probably had little clue of the legal substance of the argument.

I'd like to think THIS might be the deal-breaker for Trumpers. But we know his followers will follow him wherever he ends up on a particular issue. If Biden said something similar.... lets just say it wouldn't be met with the collective shrug we are seeing from righties.

Some peoples' "big issues" are other peoples' "laughing at these arguments because they're so monumentally stupid and have no basis in law, which has been pointed out to his lawyers in several recent decisions handed down by actual judges." Potato, pot-ah-to, I suppose.

 

The problem with fascists, whether Mussolini, Hitler, Trump or whomever, is that you are never quite sure when they have lost their marbles, or are actually of sound mind at the end of their runs - because they're fascists and can typically get their crowds to follow them as far down the rabbit hole as they wish - and the followers don't realize their leader has lost their sense of direction.

 

Its really astounding to see the GOP - which for the entirety of my life seemed to always be in lockstep, while the Dems were in utter disarray with dueling constituencies getting in the way of the party from actually accomplishing anything.
