Someone had a lot of fun writing this.

Democrats Are the Big Winners After More GOP Chaos

"Jordan is an unbelievably rich political target in ways that I'm not sure people appreciate. His involvement (as a complicit bystander, not as the actual predator) in a monstrous sexual abuse scandal when he was an assistant wrestling coach at Ohio State University is little known today outside a relatively small group of political obsessives in both parties. And even by the standards of today's Republican Party, he is on the ideological fringe, and that extremism is on full display every time he shows up in front of a camera looking and sounding like he just drank 14 Red Bulls at a Proud Boys meeting.

Congressional leaders almost always end up being quite unpopular, given the nature of polarization and their role as the public face of whatever messy compromises emerge from the Capitol. They often, like Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), lack the kind of easy charisma that presidents and presidential candidates bring to the table. But rarely are they as instantly and unambiguously repellent as the odious Jordan. He's so unlikable that even ideologically radical Republicans like Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO) who have no meaningful policy beefs with him are lining up to torpedo his bid. He would be, in every possible way, a gift for Democrats to run against next year, not just because of his sordid antics but also because of the insanely unpopular policies he backs, like a national abortion ban."

For all the valid reasons to despise Gym Jordan, America would probably fixate on a shallow, meaningless one. Dude is just ugly. Looks like a gremlin with his ears shorn off.

Jordan sees first new GOP defections in second round of voting

As the second round of voting began Wednesday afternoon, Jordan began to see more Republican defections.

Rep. Vern Buchanan of Florida became the first initial Jordan voter to switch loyalties, casting his vote for fellow Floridian, Rep. Byron Donalds.

Rep. Drew Ferguson of Georgia, who initially voted for Jordan, followed, casting his vote for Majority Leader Steve Scalise.

Those who opposed Jordan in the first round are, so far, continuing to oppose him in the second round.

Jordan's on track to get fewer votes today than he did yesterday. Hilarious.

Jordan lacks the votes to become speaker in second round of voting

Jordan has already lost more than a dozen Republicans, adding new additions to the initial list of defectors. He can only afford to lose four Republicans.

Republican defectors are becoming more free with their nominations, with Rep. Mike Kelly offering a vote for former Speaker of the House John Boehner, who led the chamber from 2011-2015.

At least one Republican on Wednesday switched votes from McCarthy to Jordan — Rep. Doug LaMalfa of California. California is McCarthy's home state.

Any sighting of Jordan always brings to mind a quote from “Mississippi Burning” ...

“Lester, I swear to God, you are livin’ proof that cousins shouldn’t fuck.”

Jordan doesn’t seem to be a consensus building statesman.

(And penguins don’t seem to be able to fly. (Cross thread))
