I believe that's the idiotic New York civil case, not the idiotic New York criminal case. But they're all kind of running together at this point.

The only reason Jan. 6 got as far as it did was that Trump was in control of federal law enforcement and the armed forces on that date. Otherwise, the effort would never have gotten off the ground, starting with arrests of known ringleaders on Jan. 5 as soon as they hit DC.

yep- ragamuffins would have been arrested before they even got on the 'ghost buses'

1/6/21 is the pile of shit Trump gets to sit in for eternity. He made that happen.

Right. The civil case is/was really idiotic.

It was THEFT ON A GRAND SCALE! ... that the supposed victim didn't pursue, and then testified for Trump's defense.

Well, that victim didn't know how loans work, so what would you expect?

He's guilty, of course, of all of it. Of everything.

Nobody intelligent even suggests that he's actually innocent, only that it's somehow improper or impolite to prosecute him, or else that his dupes will get very very angry and might do something awful, so we better just let him go.

How high of a price would I pay to let rioters and insurrectionists get their way and overthrow the United States government? Well, it's far below the threshold of losing our republic, that's for sure.
As for their safety? Fuck 'em.

Meant to get back to this but got side-tracked. You're probably right that it wouldn't be that big a deal to pop open a PowerPoint or two and get the lingo down such that you could, as you say, "check the boxes." But given that reality ... why are the boxes even there to check?

Also ... I found this pretty interesting reading this morning:
