I'm of the opinion that gold and other precious metals won't have the same cachet if the shit goes down. Not like in Biblical times or even early American history. Who gives a fuck about gold if we're back to an agrarian economy. Having a few bushels of corn -- now that will be gold.

The problem, of course, is one we as journalists know all too well: The extrapolation of “they got that wrong” to “how can we trust them with anything?”

For people in Fani Willis’s position, there simply is no room for unforced errors. It sucks, because that’s not the way it should be. Who consenting adults have sex with is between them and them only, or should be. But in a world where one side is just looking for ANY reason to take shots at the other side’s credibility because they have none of their own, you can’t make yourself an easier target.

Even if — especially if — you have credibility to spare against a side that has none.
