I think William Henry rises or sinks based on what he did prior to his term (31 days, of which he was seriously ill most of it) -- he made his name mostly as a ruthless ethnic cleanser who devoted most of his career to exterminating indigenous peoples.

Are you kidding? The U.S. supported a coup that got rid of the country's (drumroll, please) . . . democratically elected president.

Credibility about elections and democracy kind of died when they helped stage a Jan. 6 coup 5,000 miles away. You cannot praise Maidan while simultaneously condemning Jan. 6. They were BOTH wrong. The U.S. coupers were jailed. The Maidan coupers were given cookies by Victoria Nuland. At least Russia didn't have its government flunkies at the Capitol helping the deplorables.

The U.S. position is basically, "We don't want them to be Russia's puppet; we want them to be OUR puppet." Which is all well and good. But just admit it.

You know, Washington state has done elections by mail for many years without issue. It was never a problem until the Republicans started trying to throw up barriers to voting.

Tebow forbid voting be available to people who can’t physically get to a polling place.

"It should take some effort to vote" is a new catch phrase for the right wing screech machine.

If you mean disabled Americans, well of course there'd be accommodations. There must be by law. There already are.

If you mean people who lack transportation to get to a polling site, then I don't see much use for a federal holiday. The point of the federal holiday is to get people to vote.

I'm not sure what the use of a federal holiday would be then. If the mail-in voting suffices, use that method.
