They were doing that before Trump came around, and they’ll be Democrats long after he’s gone, too.

It’s the signature change in the party from 40 years ago.

The tech types? Hollywood? Sure. But I think it says something how much Biden is outraising Trump by the margins he is. Particularly with the polls where they are at - doesn't look to be a lot of hedging of bets.

Except when there's a situation like this upcoming election, in which voters are concerned about the mental acuity of both candidates, and can't do anything about it. It's also why we have 90-year-olds in other upper reaches of government. Just as there are lower age limits, there should be upper age limits.

We’ve had 90-year-olds in the upper reaches of our government before. Strom Thurmond probably needed his tapioca fed to him by a black nurse, which I’m sure chuffed him to no end. The world did not collapse. If the electorate felt that strongly about old men running for office, they had primaries and caucuses to nominate someone else.

The oldest folks in our government tend to be in Congress, because incumbency is such an advantage in our society, where "I can't be bothered to follow politics" is considered an honorable attitude for a citizen. BUT, one way to perhaps alter this trend is to put a downward sliding scale on congressional pensions after they reach the age of, oh, 70. That way, the pol would be free to run, and folks free to vote for him/her, but the pol would pay a tangible financial price for their egomania.

Don't know how many Senators well past their prime are re-elected because they have seniority and can bring home the bacon. It isn't just losing that seniority - the other choice will have ZERO seniority and influence. Your experience and accomplishments in the job should be enough to keep you in office, but the way some politicians and organizations protect incumbents despite their sleaziness or ineptness - or declining health - is really problematic.

Experience is awesome, but a 75 year old multimillionaire is completely out of touch with the needs of younger generations going forward.
