I've seen judges here use the in-building holding cells for a modified contempt punishment during trial. The defendant is in the courtroom like normal when the jury is present, but is in the holding cell during breaks.

As I've been noodling on the complexities of holding this particular defendant in contempt, I've wondered if we might see something like that. It'd be possible to do without creating the propoganda tool that Trump clearly wants.

 

Don't let this trial distract from the fact that a different jury found Trump liable for sexual abuse and defamation.

 

Crying about “my first amendment rights!!” is exactly the kind of argument that will resonate with his base: if you know nothing about anything, seems bad he can’t comment, but if you aren’t actually brain dead you know that gag orders are things in trials and he’s just ignoring this one.

 

Not that his base cares if they have reason to believe him or not.
