Fetterman's always been this way. He was never a great public speaker. He was never polished. His first senate campaign was exceptionally underwhelming.

He pulled stunts as lieutenant governor, too. It's just progressives agreed with his stunts, so they didn't see a problem.

Israel didn't come up in the Pennsylvania Senate race. Neither did immigration. Hell, even fracking and energy didn't come up at the time. The focus was on Oz being an interloper, jobs, wages, healthcare, etc.

Fetterman has never been easy to categorize. He was labeled a progressive because of weed, wages, and a few other policies, but he's probably closed to Obama and Biden as a whole.

My concern with that NYT story is entirely journalistic.

I don't know enough about Fetterman to know whether he's the same as he's always been; or undergone a complete change of personality.

But if your story rests on the premise that Fetterman has changed sufficiently to alienate his own longtime staff, you have to explore why.

The WSJ story on the other hand is a press release - a pleasant, frictionless nonevent - which explains why Fetterman agreed to be interviewed for it.

If SCOTUS lets that stand, expect the GOP to try this on the federal level. It will be harder because the electoral college system is written in, but they will try something.

But this is all kinds of bullshit. It eliminates the voting power of millions simply because they all live close to each other. It eliminates the voice of minorities. It takes away one person, one vote. Buried in the story is Texas reaffirming the right to seceded. I’d love to see them try. Get curb stomped, again, and this time let reconstruction actually work.

Also would love to see them try to hang on to US companies and for their taxes to stay low.

Beau on this, a different view. Edit: The guy has a shirt for every occasion.
