    Harris-Manchin would do it.

And Manchin's retiring anyway, no worry of losing a seat the Dems might lose in a special election. But mostly I'm hearing governors as a potential running mate. Other recent retirees, Obama or Biden cabinet members.

Rednecks are not the same as hillbillies. Many hillbillies, if they did not come from an area where coal mining was the chief industry, have Republican roots dating back to the Civil War.

Is argue it is THE problem in this election.

We can go to any lengths to painstakingly detail what a traitorous imbecile Trump is, and it won’t matter one iota.

The people voting for him know all of it already. They don’t care — it’s what they WANT.

And they certainly aren’t listening to the “enemy of the people.”

For all the attention Project 2025 is getting, Trump hasn't even been questioned on his policies, goals etc. for 2.0 except for deporting ALL the illegals and draining the economy of 7.8m workers. Those are workers, not undocumented folks hanging out in a hotel room flipping the channels and eating govt. cheese. FIVE percent of the workforce, doing jobs that can't be taken on by AI.

this makes a lot of sense, and you don’t tag someone you want to run in 2028 as part of a potential losing campaign

    1. Party would never pick Manchin. He just switched to Independent. Base loathes him, and he doesn't set many hearts fluttering elsewhere on the political spectrum. I guarantee one thing. If Biden steps down, there's no way Harris's ticket is balanced by somebody over 70, or maybe even over 60.

I'd like to see what sort of polling they get. He may be loathed but would you pick up more indepentdent voters because of it, especially in the states you need them to show up. If you are willing to make sure it's not Trump, do you grit your teeth and vote for that pairing anyway, knowing he'd be just fine in that role and it wouldn't be much of a difference from what any prior VP has done and it's not a situation like with Harris where you thought there'd be a 60-75 percent chance she'd become president due to Biden dying?

Manchin is 76 years old. Maybe call Jimmy Carter??

Harris is 59. So it's not like she's in her 40s. I think some foreign policy cred is probably more of a priority. NSA Jake Sullivan?

If Biden steps down, it'll be a real issue with the Democratic base. They'll be traumatized, and sure in no mood for a Manchin on the ticket. A solid moderate but party regular Democrat, another Biden if you will, would be ideal. Maybe like Biden's closest ally in the Senate, Chris Coons of Delaware. He could win a full-off against anybody this side of Mike Pence, but he would create few if any waves.
