It does look like a Trump win if you look at an electoral map, if the election was today.

Donald Trump should be the most easily beatable major-party candidate ever. He has a net approval rating of minus 12. Most potential voters can't stand him. He's polarizing, and that polarization skews incredibly negative.

Yet, the incumbent sitting president, who is reelected pretty easily when people aren't disaffected, was trailing him in polls (even before that debate woke people up to his age), was looking even worse on an electoral college map and was making Trump a better than 50/50 shot to win.

I think that a poll that shows Kamala Harris in a competitive race with Donald Trump, doing not much better than Biden was despite the bounce she should be getting right now (similar to a convention bounce because of the newness of her possibly being at the top of the ticket), illustrates how shitty a candidate the broad population finds her, too. When you can't put up someone who can trounce Donald Trump (who was an incumbent who lost, demonstrating his unpopularity), what your side of the ticket offers has serious problems, too.

I haven't seen anyone say she has no chance or that it is going to be a landslide, the way you posted. What I do think is inarguable is that the fact that she might beat someone most people think is dishonest and already had a chaotic presidency that got him unelected once (and that was prior to 1/6 and several indictments), demonstrates that she's a weak candidate. This wouldn't be close if she wasn't.

We'll see what happens when the newness bounce wears off and the people who have no idea who she even is are exposed to her more or they start to connect her more to what they didn't want to vote for prior to her being the candidate.

I'll stick by my opinion that the people deciding this election are going to be voting against one or the other of them, not for either of them. Neither of them are very good candidates if they aren't running against each other.

    Only the best people…

Since his election in 2022, News Channel 5 in Nashville uncovered multiple instances where he embellished or lied about his resume, including claiming he was an economist despite only taking a single economics class at a community college. Ogles also claimed he trained as a police officer and passed himself off as a “former member of law enforcement” and a “human trafficking expert,” but records uncovered by the local station revealed he was let go from his position as a volunteer sheriff’s deputy after making no progress in field training and required courses after two years.

He also claimed he attended business school at Vanderbilt and Dartmouth—but only took non-degree granting courses not intended for graduate academic work.
