It will be interesting in 2028 one way or another for Republicans. Trump will either be termed out, rotting in prison or actually dead. The GOP has no choice but to move on. Maybe we’ll get the reckoning the party should have had in 2016 but Trump pushed that back. Will the moderates have enough in them to force the radicals to heel? Will it just implode as each one tries to be more fascist than be other? Romney won’t do it. Liz won’t. McCarthy could but he’s so deep up Trump’s asshole he’ll never smell right again. Hailey? Rubio? There just isn’t a standard bearer any more. It’s a cult and everyone is sipping kool-aid.

As liberal as I am (and I’m liberal), I honestly wish there was a center-right party to balance this country. We need policies to push the country forward, but we need people to remind us if we’re going too fast. We need a party that wants to leave your bedroom alone, but limit government spending. Know the value of an immigrant, but also know we need to know who is coming in. Someone who actually cares about Middle America but can exist on the coasts. Value blue collar workers but won’t put up with the bigotry we’re seeing in Texas and Missouri. We’ll see.

 

I'm surprised the Ds haven't added "loser" to their messaging about DJT. It's one of the worst things he hates and amplification of it would send him over the edge.
