    Less about geography (which is always overrated) and more about emphasizing youth and generational change. Harris herself turns 60 in October which might slightly weaken her image on that front. But Beshear is so young (46) that his dad was governor a decade ago. And yet he has five years experience as governor and before that was state attorney general.

    At least that’s my guess from the peanut gallery.

    Catching up on several pages after some time away …

    I think the reason “weird” works and is not the new “deplorables” is because Hillary used deplorable to describe the voters and that was offensive. Harris and her surrogates are using weird to describe the candidates and their views. It’s finally calling out the wack-a-doodle policies and over-the-top statements for what they are — “weird” — instead of trying to respond with reasonable, yet wonky, political arguments.

    It could fit on a bumper sticker, even if those aren’t used much any more. If you need a comma to describe what the other side is doing it won’t land with the public.

    That says some deeply unsettling things about us as a nation, but if it is dumb and it works it isn’t dumb.

    I think you are right about this. The basket of deplorables thing kind of hit on the disdain Hillary Clinton seemed to have for the people she was asking to vote for her. This is nothing like that. But I think they shold move on from it soon."Weird" is also a corny meme thing that is already close to getting eye rolls. Not from the Republicans or the Elon Musk types, but from regular people who aren't part of the cult that is so proud of how clever it is.
