ADD: There was a brief period (1973-1974) between after LBJ died and until Nixon resigned where there were NO living ex-presidents.

 

Also in early 1933 after Coolidge died but before Hoover left office.

 

After leaving office, Hayes outlived Garfield, Arthur, and Grant.

MVB was born in 1782. During his lifetime, Washington, John Adams, Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, John Q Adams, Jackson, WH Harrison, Tyler, Polk, Taylor, Fillmore, Pierce, Buchanan and Lincoln were presidents. He outlived all of them except Fillmore, Pierce, Buchanan and Lincoln.

There have been 45 presidents. MVB was alive for 16 of them (including himself).
