I hope JD Vance has 89 more days like today in the realm of public opinion.

Because he deserves it.

 

Normally I would say a VP pick will only move the needle incrementally if at all. Palin gave McCain a little bump for a couple days when she was first picked and the grizzly mama stuff seemed to be holding up, but soon enough she became a millstone when it became obvious what a moron she was.

Vance got no such initial bump; the reaction was "oh well whatever," etc. but the last week and especially now with Walz in the hunt, he looks like a disaster.

 

Two big moments the Democrats need to get past:

• Convention week, and specifically whether the pro-Palestine bloc can take yes for an answer on the VP choice while realizing the bigger issue is not an instant fix.
  
• Having Harris hold her own in the fall debate (and there will be one - Trump can’t just let her jump out to a lead and not take an opportunity to reset.)

 

The Pro-Palestine contingent will be ok. They'll hem and haw around the edges, but the alternative is zip zero zilch nada: Fatfuck with his lips firmly planted on Bibi's balls.

As far as any prospective one on one debates between Fatfuck and Big Kam, they will go exactly like this: Kamala will utterly incinerate, annihilate, destroy Fatfuck on the merits of any debate.

But as long as he doesn't actually pass
out, vomit or shit himself on stage, Fatfuck and his flunkies will paint it as a thunderous victory.

If Harris obviously embarrassed him on the substance of the debate, he'll say he was rope-a-doping her on purpose so she wouldn't "lose her composure and just quit" and of course she was "cackling and arrogant."

 

Considering the Biden folks scrubbed anyone with pro-Palestinian leanings from running to be a delegate to the DNC, I think inside the hall it will be fine. Having Bernie and AOC pushing for Walz also helps.

 

My concern is what happens on the streets, where cable news will be looking to turn any incident into ZOMG!!!!1968!!!!!!!!!!

Given how the Democrats are so clearly pulling away, one suspects the budget to pay for agitators in bitcoin has gone way up.

The security for these conventions is quite a bit tighter than 1968. Not saying that's good or right, but a major riot situation is hopefully not likely.
