Waters can speak forcefully without using those kind of words. It is true that the Trump cult will attack anything, but it's not helpful to give them fuel. Any comparison to Jan. 6 should be rejected for obvious reasons.

No. Also apparently a few primetime TV shows have written the case into recent episodes ...

... which is why Nelson motioned for a mistrial. Which the judge denied because he believes the jury has followed his instructions.

 

Maxine Waters was wrong to say what she did. She should also probably retire. We've seen what happens in her district when people get more confrontational - she was repping the district during the Rodney King riots, after the police were acquitted. That was 30 years ago, she's been in Congress all that time and made zero headway. And when someone of her stature says what she did - and understands that people will twist words and meaning - it's not just LA or Minnesota that are at risk, but every city in the US that could suffer. Now I don't think her words carry the same weight (no pun intended) as Trump's did on 1/6, but the words were irresponsible nonetheless. A better call to action is to get more better people to sign up and serve our communities - people who live in those communities - as police officers. And start the change from within.
