Nearly ten years and we still struggle.

 

Republicans are wishcasting that Harris will lose her shit and attack Trump while the Big Orange Cheeto maintains his composure and focuses on the issues. Which is exactly what will not happen.

All Harris has to do is connect to the viewers in a positive manner, present a coherent framework for the country moving forward and ignore Trump's attempts to bait her into a mud-slinging match. Treat it like presenting facts in front of a courtroom. It's something she's trained for.

Just because the mics will be cut off doesn't mean Trump won't blow this opportunity. He has no off button. He cannot stand not getting the attention for saying stupid things that make no sense to the average voter. I love that his handlers feel he needs no prep for the debate "because he's experienced at giving speeches on the issues." Huh? He rambles and mumbles and veers off on tangents about windmills and fictional movie characters and tariffs and bloody revenge. He's borderline psychotic right now.

Trump will get his 70 million votes. Harris just needs to get more in the seven states that matter.

He's a modern-day Don Quixote. Or Don Needs A Straitjacket.

All Harris has to do is not be Trump and build on her momentum. And right now, that's a pretty low bar to clear.
