It’s definitely a big deal, but not likely an election issue. Hopefully it’s settled within a few weeks. Because it will be a big issue heading into the new year if it’s not.

There was going to be a big railroad strike at the end of 2022 over lack of sick time until Biden used his authority to block it. The he leaned on the railroads to get with the program, and very quietly the situation has improved. Now they are pushing the remaining holdouts to get it done.

All that to say, I don’t think the administration is going to just let the economy burn down over this.

 

Yeah, Biden and Harris need to step in. Biden has the power to do it, but as Axios notes, he's very pro union.

That said, Biden did it a couple years ago and stopped train workers from striking.

I think they need to get both sides in a room and put together a temporary deal. A few concessions on each side, deal lasts 18-24 months, and during that span they work on the larger issues.
