What's the price for a plain block to which one could add strawberries or chives and onions? Seems relevant. The tax Americans are never unwilling to pay (and I certainly include myself) is the convenience tax. If it saves us five seconds, we'll pay a dollar, maybe five.

 

Philadelphia is 4.99 for a 7.5-oz container at Stop and Shop. 8.49 for the 15-oz container doesn't seem unreasonable.

 

Most Americans aren't rationalizing like that and you can't expect them to.
