Not only are Minnesota’s Constitutional and statutory protections independent of any determination of rights under the federal constitution, but even if Roe had not been overturned, that decision did not create a trimester “mandate.” Rather, it used trimesters to measure when and how a state, should it choose to, may or may not regulate women’s decisions to carry or abort a fetus. There is no reason to address Roe because it is irrelevant.
