Voting early in some states lets the parties know that you have already submitted a ballot and thus they can spend more time chasing down those who need more persuading.

Then there is Alabama. Unless you sign a blood oath that you meet the narrow qualifications for an absentee ballot (and have it witnessed) your only choice is to show up on Election Day at whatever precinct your county has deigned to open. If that means standing in line at dawn in a cemetery during a worldwide pandemic, that’s the price of poker bub.

Always good when a celebrity condescends to people. It's kind of amazing that celebrities still think this is a good idea, considering they advocate for the same party, over and over.

Hell, Trump has made condescension an artform.

I like voting in person just because of the spirit of the thing. I feel connected to my civic duty. And connected to the other people there exercising their right.

But, I also don't mind jury duty. So I might be a freak.

Vermont state law now requires SOS to send a ballot to every registered voter. You have to use it to send in or bring in on Election Day, or show up in person to the poll.

I will say there is something about being in a newsroom on election day that I missed in 2020 as I worked remotely.

There is a buzz and a vibe and almost always free food even for us in sports.

Waiting on late results? We do that every night in sports (or used to before ungodly early deadlines and decimated newsrooms).

At one job I had way back when, sports had a 7 p.m. deadline on Election Night.
Then I took late results from precincts calling in until after our latest deadline. Some precincts though didn't report results right away. They would have dinner and maybe a couple of drinks and then call in.

It was still interesting to me though and there was a buzz even in the small newsroom.
