At some point we need to start taking people at their word, rather than the assumptions we have about them. Yes, they talk in broad terms about the economy. It's up to Democrats to parse through that and figure out how to win those people over.

And yes, working class voters covers a lot of territory. It's unions, rural farmers, exurban families, and more. There isn't a magic bullet that wins all of them over, but you need to do the legwork to listen and engage them. And then explain in clear, succinct ways how you're going to help.

The only criticism I have of Harris is that she was often broad in her discussions of various issues. Now, Trump uttered nothing but word salad, but his propaganda machine was able to take his nonsense and boil it down to simple messaging. Safer borders. More money. Less scary people around you.

Democrats need to find a similar method.

 

How much damage will have been done by then? Will Social Security be ravaged? Health care?
What disaster will tariffs bring upon us all?
