Hispanics, black men, white women (the latter not as surprising). Make it make sense.

Don’t discount the patriarchy. Hispanic men may not like Republicans but they have their manliness.

Hispanics are also very conservative for family. Abortion and trans rights may have spooked them toward GOP.

Honestly, those are the people I thought I was trying to help the most and they vote this way ….hard to imagine.

Interesting point just made: This right-lean is happening worldwide. Not just a U.S. issue. I'm not sure what is driving it but I just didn't expect it this time.

Answer will be the same it always is: "He inherited the inflation . . . "

People often forget that things actually got worse for a year and a half under Reagan until Volcker's influence finally put the brakes on inflation. Inertia is powerful. Imagined inertia (in this case) is sometimes even more powerful.

Exactly right. There is a global push right.

As for those handwringing over Walz v. Shapiro, the VP pick doesn't mean shit.

Possibly. I do think the Walz-Vance debate may have stopped the bleeding of a Trump campaign that was almost toast.

I was not confident in the last month or so. Hoped I was wrong, but …

Seems like the Harris momentum stagnated ever so slightly. And after 2016, I will never again expect the electorate to lean to the side of angels.

On top of all of that, I would call this the Porkchop Election.

I went to the store today. Thought I might get myself a steak. I hadn’t had one in a while.

I go in and (taking the shit selection they had out of it), an individual strip or ribeye was no less than $15.

I could probably afford it, but I didn’t want to. So I picked up some porkchops for about $6.

Then I thought about other items I’ve economized on. Soda, candy - probably best that I do cut those down - but I didn’t cut down for my health. It was for my wallet.

I’m certain you can extrapolate that to far more important items. Housing is a way too high. Cars, etc.

In that way, this election is like any other. It’s a checkbook proposition. And a lot of people aren’t in great shape in that department.
