There are still over a million votes likely to be counted in Pennsylvania. The current total is about 5.6 million counted, while there were approximately 6.8 million counted in 2020. The gap is currently roughly 200,000, with most of the votes from blueish areas.

Wisconsin has a LOT of Milwaukee still to count. Michigan still has a lot of Wayne County (Detroit) to count.

It's not great, but it's not over.

The Trump campaign behaved much as it did on the afternoon of 2016 ED. I remember seeing a report in which the talking head quoted a kkkampaign official around 5 pm that day as saying, “It doesn’t look good.”
Today, Trump was rage tweeting. He obviously had his Russian hackers sabotaging GA. Stephen Miller tweeted panic. Why would you do these things if you thought you were going to win?
Soon enough, we’ll get a play-by-play of when each side knew it was over.

One thing about Latino voters -- it's always been a conservative voting block, right up until Trump called them murderers and rapists. They're Catholic and pretty law-and-order.

I'm not sure why they're forgiving Trump, but in the big picture they are a conservative group.

This is far from the only factor, but I think it's a big factor.

Does automation increase support for the far right?

I sincerely don't think the VP debate mattered.

I think people simply don't feel they're in a good place economically and they're willing to throw everything else out because of that.

The VP debate didn't mean squat. They never do.

Heh. Right now Arizona is looking better than Wisconsin (which would be a fine trade anyway).

That sounds right. GOP got crushed in Reagan’s first midterms if I remember correctly. Two years later, Democrats barely won anything. 2 states.

Another sign it’s Trump’s night: one of the only surviving GOP congress members who voted to impeach him, Central Washington’s Dan Newhouse, is clinging to a very narrow lead over a hack MAGA challenger. Still a lot of votes to count in a mail-in state, but way closer than most people thought.

Washington Post has called New Jersey and Connecticut for Harris. It called Virginia for Harris an hour ago. Networks are being cautious.

Don’t run another woman for 20 years. This place clearly isn’t ready.

One bit of personal good news, a guy who used to string for me at my last full-time newspaper job was re-elected as a state representative.

Not happy about the rest of the night. I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow where I hope I’ll get a catheter taken out after an ER visit two weeks ago.

I really don’t want to leave the country but my girlfriend seems set on it. She’s thinking Italy or Spain. Italy is run by a fascist though so I doubt that would be better.

My employer is multi-national. I could find something in another country but given my skill set and the fact that I only speak English, I’m not sure what I could do.
