The Biden administration went above and beyond to invest in poor states and struggling areas and to revitalize jobs in hard-hit industries to give blue-collar people a hand up and to try and address their concerns about being left behind.

In return those same groups told them to fuck off. The keys to the White House got washed away in a flood of ignorance and misinformation.

If Democrats regain power someday (feels like a doubtful “if” but I’m trying to reinflate my optimism) then it is time to close the checkbook on getting Johnny Sixpack back on the assembly line or to a better life out of the mines. Time to start pouring money into remaking and improving education everywhere. And time to send as many kids as possible to public colleges for free.

Oh your red state doesn’t want to participate? We’ll cover the cost for you to go to a state that does. Your red state refuses to institute K-12 learning standards that include becoming critical consumers of information? We’ll open freedom schools where you can get a real education and not some Prager U brainwashing bullshit.

Oh they got a federal judge in Possum Droppings, Texas, to issue an injunction against all this? That’s cute. We’re going to pull an Andy Jackson and ignore that. Does he feel froggy enough to send US Marshals to arrest the Treasury secretary? Does he have to worry a little bit that the people can revolt in the opposite direction too?

Time to fight back. Maybe we need to march through the streets chanting “Ignorance will not replace us.”

One other California race worth noting. Adam Schiff wins twice, one to fill out the rest of DiFi's Senate term, the second for the full six-year term, defeating Steve Garvey both times.

I'm taking solace in Virginia that Youngkin's term is about to end, Spanberger will be an excellent governor (can't see a world in which she loses, she's popular on both sides), my city voted for a very qualified Dem mayor, and that Tim Kaine kept Hung Cao out of office.

My one concern is that Youngkin leaves his term early to take a spot in Trump's administration, leaving Winsome Sears -- who is a fucking monster -- to fill out his term.

Getting rid of phones - in every public school, as in, don't even bring them to school - wouldn't cost much. It's probably the No. 1 issue for teachers at this point.

Second would be jettisoning whole language curriculum - which does not work - for phonics. But that means de-wokifying the educational industry.

I certainly agree with your first point. Don't know enough to respond to your second.

Someone, David Axelrod maybe, said Dems shouldn't have been ranting about democracy when people had concerns about putting food on the table.

    1. Harris largely avoided that
    2. This is America, man, we should be able to talk about democracy whenever we feel like it
    3. And this economy ain't 1931. Or 1991 which sank Bush 41. Or 2008/9

Aaaand the Pod Save Bros are like "Harris and Biden stuck defending system of government people hate because they think it's broken."

Dudes, you and they just wait and get a load of President Joker. Then you'll see broken.

You know what would help the Democratic Party. Fewer of its members becoming cable pundits or podcast hosts. These are occupations which tend to turn otherwise OK people into panic-stricken drama queens. Not helpful.

I must have missed the part when Biden negotiated all those deals to cut prescription prices and Harris talked about going after price gouging by big grocery companies. And BTW, still waiting for a decision in the suit that would essentially stop the Kroger-Albertsons merger.
