I've been looking at the numbers in each of the big three battleground states (PA, MI, WI). And man, they are way closer then I thought. Excruciatingly close.

This election hits a thousand times worse than 2016 because of voters rewarding or not punishing Trump for his covid mismanagement and January 6th....two of the most unforgivable things ever done by a president in office.

AAAAND whining about inflation and voting for Donny Tariff is like hiring an arsonist when you need freon for your fridge.

And this will likely go on for a long, long time to come. This article from The Atlantic explains a lot of things, in detail, and it's truly appalling to really think about. This will likely not be over in four years. No matter what happens in the next election. Our country, our Constitution, and our lives have been determined, for more than the just the foreseeable future. The numbers themselves add up to that cold, hard reality.

How badly this election was blown -- by the voters, I still say -- cannot be overstated.

Well, Congress can't do anything about amendments without 75% of the House, 67% of the Senate and 38 states approving, but you already know that. Nice non-sequitur.

There are also those who argue quite persuasively that the Constitution's almost-impossible amendment procedure is one of the biggest roadblocks to a true democracy, and why we still have the electoral college, why women were not allowed to vote for the country's first 140 years, why Senators were appointed instead of elected for almost as long and why equal rights for women are still not Constitutionally protected (there I go again, talking like some liberal socialist).

Our fabled Constitution has enabled sustained minority rule at the national level.

In Oregon the Constitution can be changed with 50% +1 approval of the voters of an initiated measure. Yet very, very few constitutional changes are made.

Florida's 60% target essentially makes it almost impossible to change the state constitution. I guess that's OK for Floridians, unless they need an abortion and don't mind 40% + 1 of the population deciding what's legal.

In the 1930, Hispanics who were US citizens were deported.

In the 1940s Japanese people who were US citizens were thrown into camps.

But sure. Citizenship will save them.

    It’s 2/3rds of both houses.

It’s 2/3rds to propose an amendment and 3/4 to ratify.

Let's take a moment to mourn the losses of two really solid, impressive candidates Colin Allred and Lucas Kunce who thanks to the red state blues lost to mewling pissants.

It will. And we're not going back to "colored" restrooms in our offices, either.

    1) Trump’s minions doing deportations won’t be asking many questions

    2) They want to get people out as quickly as possible before they can see a judge (which of their right regardless of citizenship)

    3) They frankly don’t care. Just wait until children who are born here get sent to a country they’ve never been because Trump doesn’t respect citizenship.
