Somewhere, Al Gore is like "if I only sent a mob to destroy the Capitol, and ranted for four years about the Supreme Court rigging the election against me.....I coulda won. I coulda been POTUS instead of what I am, which is a footnote."

Agree whole heartedly. Sane people would think, "This America, as it stood with its faults, with its back and forth, allowed me to become whatever (Free? Rich? Important?) when I had nothing. I want this country to stand! I'm not qualified". Insane power mongers without any political experience or an understanding of history just lap up the power.

I don't know how those teachers (or my post, maybe?) were putting anything "on the kids."

What? The idea that maybe Trump shouldn't have been elected President?

I don't look at it as maybe people are tired of left preaching, or whatever, or that that's why the topic is divisive.

The topic is divisive because of Trump, the most divisive and division-encouraging, person in the nation. That's it. And look at what the ignorance about him and what he wants to do has wrought.

These aren't little kids. They're high school kids -- young adults, some of whom may have voted for the first time, or who could soon do so. You don't think direct, forthright discussion of Trump (and Biden/Harris), the election events, and how the current Republican government trifecta will impact, oh...virtually everything that comes up in the next four years would be worth talking about, and having young people learn, from an actual teacher instead of social media?

Everyone just saying "Trump is who he is," and leaving it at that, is a laissez-faire attitude, and a large part of what has caused this mess. There are a lot of things that needed to be understood about Trump, this election, its results and its likely impact -- none of it good -- on our society, which will now become more extremist, more judgmental, more racist, more entitled/selfish, more dark, less moral, less inhibited, etc. than we may already be, in his image, and a man who idolizes people like Hitler, Putin, Kim Jong Un, etc. has been granted almost unlimited power that will be dangerous in his hands. And these young people need to understand that, yes, this is who our country voted for, and what people think they want. But is it, really?

I don't think so. Ignorance, stupidity and a complete lack of understanding of what was at stake, and how/why that was, is what drove this election. People treated Trump like the reality-show host that he is, and were OK with him being that. The problem is, he's not just a reality-TV host. He's going to be the President of the United States, again, after being probably the worst President ever the first time around.

A good, thorough look at and analysis of how and why that happened, even though he had no business even being nominated by his party, and even though he is unfit for the office (and is already proving it), including what that says about our country, would seem to be in order if you're any kind of teacher.

That's assuming, of course, that it's at all possible to have a civil, safe discussion about it all. Alas, because it's Trump, civil and safe are not possible. And that's why all this will only go from bad to worse. Trump has well and truly taken over, he's signaling that already, and I guess we'll see how much his supporters -- the voters -- really want him, and all that will come with that choice.

Because he's not going to do anything about the rising costs of groceries, or anything else that would help the average citizen. What were they thinking?! It's important for kids to be taught how to think. And sometimes, that might even mean telling them what you think and what they should think (and why) in an effort to encourage them to move toward that same, hopefully, right thinking.

Whenever anyone mentions how it insane it would be to have RFKJ as HHS secretary....Red Hat Nation chimes in with the supposed lack of qualifications of one Rachel Levine, current assistant HHS Secretary. Her qualifications: MD, med school professor, headed Pennsylvania's public health department.

What makes her unqualified for these bros? She's transgender. That's it.

What’s more, as Vice President why didn’t he do what Trump wanted Pence to do?

Let's just see if, in the name of "clerical efficiency," the speaker rules that his office will review and approve all submissions to the Congressional Record.

Again, ultimately the Supreme Court would probably have to rule on the issue.

Matt Gaetz trying to repeal the “Live Girl/Dead Boy” rule is a twist I never saw coming.

Oh yes!! Whatever happened to Nestor, Gaetz's chubby and nubile young "adopted son"?!?

Sure would be interesting to know how that cozy little family unit is getting along. Perhaps some high powered news organizations could look into it??
